A monthly, reflective discussion group exploring character trait refinement through the Jewish practice of Mussar. Alan Morinis’ book, ‘Everyday Holiness’ serves as the core text for these gatherings, and participants are strongly encouraged to purchase their own copy. All are welcome to join the group at any time.
Join Rabbi Gurevitz for a learning session and discussion about the choreography of prayer. This will include a practical guide, the deeper significance of standing during prayer (and the practice of not entering a prayer space while a congregation is standing in prayer), and a little bit of historical context. You’ll also have an opportunity to be part of a Ritual conversation that may bring some changes in choreography to our worship at CBS.
Sisterhood will be holding our annual Hanukkah Party on Thursday, January 5th at 6:00 pm at CBS. We will be serving a light non-dairy supper along with latkes, appetizers and desserts. We ask that participants bring non-dairy appetizers (if your last name begins with A-L) or desserts (if your last name begins with M-Z,) if you are able. We invite everyone to join in the Latke Contest by bringing 24 small pre-cooked latkes using your favorite recipe.
We will be making donations to Abby’s House as our community service project. Abby’s House requests new items, such as bedding, or gift cards. Please see their website: Abbyshouse.org. We will also be preparing cards to send with our donations. We will need help with set up and clean up.
This event is open to all women. Sisterhood members are free, non-members $5 donation requested.
