Funds
Congregation B'nai Shalom has several funds serving various needs. We encourage all congregants to donate. There is a $10 minimum for any donation requiring an acknowledgement be sent. Please send donations to: Congregation B'nai Shalom If you'd like an acknowledgement to be sent, donations must include the name of the fund, the name and address of the person(s) to whom the acknowledgement is to be sent, and your name and address. For your convenience, we have a form in both Microsoft Word and in Acrobat Reader PDF. Our Funds Abby Brown Education - These monies are used for special projects and materials within the school such as films and records, speakers and field trips. Adult Education - Funds donated will be used for Adult Education Programs. Arts - Funds donated will be used to purchase and display artwork to beautify the synagogue. Building - These monies are for special maintenance and projects around the building. General - These monies are used to support the congregation's current budget. High Holy Day - These monies are used to arrange our High Holiday Services Israel Bond - Each time $250 accumulates, an Israel Bond will be purchased in the congregation's name as an investment in Israel. Jennifer Lee Levine Memorial Youth - Monies from this fund will benefit the preteen and teen members of the congregation including financial aid to attend retreats or Reform camp programs. Joel I Silverstein - Monies from this fund will be used to refurbish the temple kitchen. Library - These monies are used to purchase books for children and adults for our circulating library. Leadership Development Fund - This fund helps support leadership programs and opportunities within our own congregation and outside, including, but not limited to the leadership development program at B'nai Shalom and seminars and workshops sponsored by other Jewish groups. Lisa Elaine Feingold Memorial - These monies are used for the annual children's Chanukah celebration and for media or special cultural projects to benefit the Pre-school, Kindergarten or 1st Grade students of the Congregation. Music - These funds are used to augment the congregation's musical programs. Prayer Book - These monies are used to purchase copies of Gates of Repentance, our High Holiday prayerbook, or to purchase copies of our regular prayerbook. Rabbi Debra R. Hachen Caring Fund - These monies are used to offer emergency assistance to congregants in times of need. Rabbi's Discretionary - These monies are used by the rabbi for Tzedakah (charity) and special projects. Religious Activities - These monies are used to purchase items needed in the sanctuary or for religious observance. Social Action - Monies accumulated in this fund will be given as donations to selected non-profits - determined by the Social Action Committee - in the name of Cong. B'nai Shalom. A certain portion may be used for speakers or marketing materials to better educate the congregation community on causes we are supporting. Yad b'Yad - These monies are used by the Yad b'Yad committee in their role of preparing and delivering meals to congregants who are ill or caring for an extended family member; making friendly visits to congregants with various needs; sending cards to cheer up or congratulate. Youth - These monies are used for youth conclaves, weekends, and conferences, and to further the work of youth groups and provide subsidies for retreats. Youth Summer Scholarship - These monies are used to help defray some of the costs of attending several Reform Movement's summer camp programs. Other Giving Opportunities
Tree of Life - The Tree of Life is a symbol of growth and joy. The leaves of our congregation's Tree of Life are filled with happy memories of our lives. Leaves may be purchased for B'nai Mitzvah, births, marriages, anniversaries or any other events that you wish to commemorate. Contact the temple office at 508-366-7191 for more information.
