The Poetry of the High Holy Days

New adult education series begins Tuesday, September 5, 7:30-9pm, for four weeks.

Please join Professor Marsha Nourse and Rabbi Gurevitz for a wonderful exploration of the contemporary poetry found in the new machzor (High Holy Day prayer book). Following on from last year’s very successful series, exploring the poetry of Rosh Hashanah, this year we will begin to explore the material found in the Yom Kippur prayer book. Marsha takes us on a journey that opens up the meaning and experience of the poetry. Partnering with Rabbi Gurevitz, we look at the juxtaposition of these poems with key moments in the liturgy of the holidays, gaining a deeper understanding of both.
