Lessons for today: An Immigrant’s Story of the Holocaust
Wednesday, July 30, 2025 • 5 Av 5785
7:00 PM - 8:30 PMSocial hallJeannette Nadle is the mother of CBS congregants Lucette Nadle, and mother-in-law of Barry Kran, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Jeannette was 8 years old when the German occupation of Belgium began, driving her family into hiding 2 years later until liberation in 1944. Her memories of what she and her family experienced at that time, the atrocities of WWII and the Holocaust, the courage and compassion of strangers, her parents’ drive to survive and to provide a better life for her children, all shaped the person she has become.
She feels obligated to share the story of her experiences as the current political, economic and social circumstances of the world in general, and the USA in particular, echo those of 1930s Europe. There are lessons to be learned from that history that are relevant to understanding our present circumstances and for informing our choices, decisions and actions.
All are invited to hear her talk followed by a Q&A. This program is suitable for teens and adults.
Light desserts and soft drinks will be served.
This event is free of charge, but advance registration is required to help us plan.
