I have children under the age of 12 - What are my options?

This year, on both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mornings, we will be holding a Morning Family Service and activity program for families with students grades K-6 in the Social Hall beginning at 8:45 am. This is for parents to attend with their children. We will begin with an age-appropriate service that highlights the key themes and melodies of the High Holy Days. There will be activities for youth, and a meaningful discussion program for adults. The program will end at approximately 10.45am with an optional additional activity to enjoy with families on each day until 11.45am. Registration is required to attend the family program to help us plan. NEED LINK

Childcare will be available for 2-5-year-olds on both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mornings at CBS from 8:30-10:30 am. Registration and more information at NEED LINK.

I have children under the age of 12 but would like to attend an adult morning service

While the programs we have created for families are best suited for children under 12. If you prefer to attend a full adult service as a family, you are welcome to do so. The 8.30am service has a more traditional feel and music is a capella. The 11.30am service features our choir and musical instruments.

What is the difference between the two Kol Nidre services?

Our Kol Nidre service in the sanctuary, led by Rabbi Eiduson and Cantorial Soloist Sharon Brown Goldstein, begins with a rendition on the cello of Bruch’s Kol Nidre and is followed by a more traditional liturgy a capella. Our Kol Nidre service in the social hall, led by Rabbi Gurevitz and Cantorial Soloist Lisa Marcus, includes musical instruments and takes a thematic approach to entering Yom Kippur with a more meditative service that dips into the traditional liturgy and provides space for personal reflection. We will also hear Bruch’s Kol Nidre during the service.

Will there be a community Tashlich ritual this year?

Yes!  Tashlich is a short ritual that ends with scattering bird seeds into the water. You will also hear the shofar at this outdoor ceremony. We are gathering at Lake Chauncey Beach in Westborough on the 1st day of Rosh Hashanah at approximately 1:50 pm. Additionally, there will be a short Tashlich available at the end of the Family service and program on Rosh Hashanah.
