Gesher
6th Grade Gesher Program
Tuesdays from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
& Parent/Student Programs
The word Gesher means “bridge,” and our sixth graders will begin taking steps to cross the bridge from childhood to Jewish adulthood. We believe the family bond helps ease the transition from childhood to adulthood and builds bridges that will lead children to B'nai Mitzvah, Confirmation, Graduation, and beyond. We want our 6th Graders and their families to have engaging, relevant, and memorable learning experiences. Gesher is our way to help pave the path and set families on a learning journey together. Gesher students will attend on Tuesdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for Jewish Studies and Hebrew Studies. Gesher 6th Graders AND their parents will meet monthly with our Rabbis and our Educators (Schedule Below!) 6th Graders, together with their parents, will complete a special project that will be displayed after the year. In addition, special activities for our 6th-grade students will only occur throughout the year!

AugAugust 3 , 2024B'nai Mitzvah Service
Shabbat, Aug 3rd 10:15a to 12:15p
We celebrate the coming of age of a young person on or after their thirteenth birthday. A minimum of four years of Jewish education is required, although we work individually with children with special needs to ensure that all children can celebrate this important life cycle moment. The ceremony marks the arrival at the ‘age of mitzvot’ – the age at which an individual in the Jewish community has learned how to live according to Jewish ethics and principles and is given greater responsibility for continuing their learning and practice. Join us on the Temple Livestream https://www.cbnaishalom.org/livestream.html -

All are invited to join Rabbi Gurevitz for a 4 part study and discussion of Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg's book 'Repentance and Repair.' Please order a copy of the book to begin to read in advance of the course start date. This book takes the core Jewish concepts of what true repentance looks like and applies it to contemporary contexts in wider society where repair for past harms would benefit both individuals and society. We'll be reviewing approximately 2 chapters in discussion each session. -
